For reasons I will not get into deeply here, I must leave Substack again. I left once before over their politics and ideology and when I thought they were listening to people and changing their ways I came back but their partnership with Bari Weiss is a bridge too far and I cannot be associated with this company any longer. Not that they give a shit, I am small potatoes in a sea of newsletters that are pulling in 100k readers, as well as money. So I’m not going to make a big stance about it. I’m disappointed and I’m angry, but that seems to be the way of the world right now. If you are interested in any further discussion about it, you could look up the politics of Bari Weiss, then try to reconcile that with what you know about me.
I don’t want to switch to Beehive or Ghost or whatever else is out there. What I’m going to do is make a blog on the back of my website, make a mailing list of anyone who wants to read, and have a good old fashioned website about it. That’s right, I’m bringing back blogs.
So give me a little bit to get that settled and get writing again. In the meantime, I will be writing at least three times a week about my records over at I Have That On Vinyl so you can check that out. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience. Though I can’t imagine how one would be inconvenienced by me not writing what is essentially a blog. Maybe we should all just put down the internet and go outside for a bit while we still can.
Stay tuned here for an announcement about new digs and signing up for the mailing list.
Thank for reading, as always. See you after the new year. Enjoy your holidays!
Best of luck to you ❤️
I have no idea who is Bari Weiss, but it's sad to see this space go, even with the new blog -- which is amazing as expected -- I feel like these were more personal and thematically chaotic. In any case, my supporter's role is to endorse your decision first and understand it later if at all, so good for you and f* substack. More time for IHTOV. Lots of health and peace. Stay up!
