It was a week in which I contemplated. What am I doing with my life? Where am I going? What is it I want to do, and what is it I have to do. For the short term: I want to enjoy the holiday season. I want to free my mind of some things. I want to finish some writing projects I started. I have to find a part time job.
There is joy in doing for yourself. There’s a joy in making room in your life for the things you want to accomplish instead of just dreaming about them. I truly have found retirement rewarding and inspiring. I feel more alive now than I’ve felt in years. I feel happier, more at ease, less anxious. So this is the perfect time to work on some things I have up my sleeve. As such, I will be taking a little vacation from here, so I can concentrate on what else I have going on.
I have a book of essays I want to self publish. I am working on putting my 100 word stories into some kind of book form. And I have a collaborative music writing project that will be published right here in January-February. So I’ve got a lot of good, creative stuff going on, but it is all time consuming. Coupled with the idea that I need to spend more time being present in my own life, and a sort of hiatus is on order. I say sort of because I’ll probably do my annual Thanksgiving post, and I intend to do a year-end wrap up sort of thing. But other than that, I am going to step back until the new year.
I hope everyone who celebrates has a wonderful holiday season. I hope the slide into winter is easy, and you have good health and fortune as the year winds down. May you find joy in every day.
You can always find me on twitter or email if you just want to say hi or make some suggestions for future essay topics. Happy Thanksgiving and whatever winter holidays you enjoy. I’ll see you in January.
I love what you're doing. Have a great holiday season. I hope you can get your "mini" flash fiction book going. And everything else. Best wishes for a happy 2025.
I get it, and good luck with all that you're planning. Happy autumn and winter celebration season! But, also: get the hell off Twitter ;)
