It’s Saturday so here’s the second installment of Things I Have Been Enjoying This Week. This is a great exercise that allows me to sit and think about the good things in my life - both big and small - that bring me joy. I hope it leads you to do the same.
Tim Tams
I went to Outback for dinner one night and got their dessert that is made with Tim Tams, an Australian cookie. The cookies were so good I immediately went on Amazon and ordered two packages. Delightful.
Good liver numbers
I had a follow-up appointment with my gastroenterologist yesterday. We went over my liver numbers in relation to my last visit and it turns out the meds for my PBC are working, because those numbers are back go normal again! Got some sort of distressing news as well, but for now I am just going to be thankful that my liver seems to be functioning well again.
Ted Lasso
Remember last week when I said I wasn’t enjoying Ted Lasso as much as previous seasons? Well this week’s episode made up for that. Totally redeemed the season. The warm fuzzies and joy showed up again in this wonderful episode. There were some really poignant, and very funny, moments. Once again we got to see each character as a real person with real emotions, and their excursion into the Amsterdam night proved to be just what we all needed.
The New York Islanders
They were down two games to none coming into their home arena last night and gave the fans exactly what they wanted. The place was rocking, the boys were scoring, the series is now at 2-1 and completely winnable. This team brings me such joy in addition to the aggravation. That’s sports, baby.
The Walkmen
This performance -their first in ten years - on the Late Show is incredible.
Boygenius
I wasn’t sure I like the new album when it first dropped, but after repeated listenings, I’ve grown to love it, which makes sense as I love all three of these ladies on their own. It’s really a lovely record, and here they are performing on Jimmy Kimmel.
Edibles
I have not been able to smoke weed since I had the fluid drained out from around my lung Monday, as my lung is still expanding and it just wouldn’t be a good idea. Yet smoking makes my chronic pain easier to deal with, subdues my nausea, eases my mind; turning to gummies was the easy choice. Even though you don’t get the immediate satisfaction of that instant high you get with smoking (gummies take about 90 minutes to kick in), I’ve gotten good at timing things just right.
And that’s it for this week’s joy roundup. Tell me what brought you joy this week.
I thought that was the best Lasso S3 episode. And, for what it's worth, I also prefer the "instant" buzz of smoking pot over edibles - but absolutely agree that if the timing is down, one is allright!
that entire episode was lovely
yay for all the good ❤️
