The first five sentences have led me to conclude Jimmy Buffet’s paradise may well have been a Long Island diner.

Great post. Boy do I miss diners in the South. Had to go back to LI for a funeral last year. I was absolutely starving when I drove out on the island, eventually stopping at the Empress/Grand. No one makes a pizza burger like they do. There used to be a diner on the corner of Conklin and the 110 that I used to go to a lot with my dad. That's where I had my first cup of coffee along with waffles and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it.

Now I'm not just hungry but famished with gusts up to ravenous.

Thanks, Michele.

The thing I miss most about Jersey (outside of family, obviously) are diners and pizzerias.

My last trip home my parents and I went to a few diners and none of them lived up to my memories. Granted, my parents live out in the boonies now after retiring, but it was still a let down.

My friends and I went to a diner almost every day once we were able to drive. We had several regular spots all over Morris County.

Diners are home.

Most of them closed, then had reduced hours during the pandemic, but the ones I frequent are still 24hours

Your diners are still open 24 hours a day? We've lost all of our 24-hr diners. At best they're open until 11 pm now.

I was just driving home from lunch in a nearby town and found a 24-hr diner! Only 12 min from my house!

There a few good diners in the greater Lehigh Valley area, some which are open 24/7. But they pale in comparison to the Long Island diners of my youth.
