Those who are driven by hate - who seem to only feel that emotion at all even when they are “winning” - want us to mirror that hate and take away our hope and joy. I have followed you since 2003, originally under a pseudonym and by my real name for over a dozen years. I have not always agreed with your opinions, but I have enjoyed your writing. In the last eight years I have had more than a few family and friends unfriend or block me; I think last count it was over 11 people - sometimes both in a couple, sometimes only half. Earlier this year, a woman I have known 35 years was shocked when she realized I wasn't voting Democrat, and she said some of the most hateful things to me before blocking me. That was a surprise.
I am sorry the election results have hurt you so. I don't blame you if you were to block me (you don't follow me, but I trust you get my point). I have never blocked anyone with whom I have disagreed; that doesn't make me 'special,' just that I prefer to keep my eyes and ears open to all sides. I hope Trump will demonstrate your fears are unfounded.
