I've been a huge Bruce fan since the late 70's and Tunnel of Love has long been my favorite of his records, even though and perhaps largely because because it evokes a particular time in my life when I was in love with someone I shouldn't have been in love with. You say you've mostly been listening to the earlier stuff and those are all great, but have you heard any of the newer stuff, like from the last decade? If not, give Western Stars a listen. It's very different, achingly beautiful songs.
I'm glad you found Bruce again. :)
I dug through my Tumblr to find this list of my top ten Bruce albums. It probably needs to be updated.
1. Born to Run
2. The River
3. Darkness on the Edge of Town
4. Greetings...From Asbury Park, NJ
5. Born in the USA
6. The Rising
7. Nebraska
8. The Wild, The Innocent, & The E-Street Shuffle
9. Magic
10. Wrecking Ball
i'm finding myself listening to the earlier stuff a lot lately, especially Greetings.
