fwiw I have way more trouble listening to Arcade Fire now, knowing that the Butlers are also military industrial complex royalty. to say nothing of an artist like, idk, Woody Allen, which I can’t enjoy his work at all now
which is no excuse for Lacey of course. but awful successful people still end up, like, being differentiated into tiers of awfulness. for whatever reason Brand New don’t quite get to “turn that off” level in my music listening. maybe it was in part because so much of his writing is about, in some ways, being a monster. idk.
